These are my fishing adventures and I want to share what I've discovered with everybody. And I'm happy to learn from you too!
Workshop 020 Solar Train Rolling
No need to plug in THIS mobile workshop! The lights'll stay on even when there is no power elsewhere. Well..for now, at least there'll be cold beer. The first three, big solar panels are installed and wired to the a battery bank via a charge controller. It's a big step towards getting this project where I envisioned it. Even though the lights aren't hooked up yet, progress feels like it's steamrolling now. Let's hope the train keeps going and everything stays on track.

Workshop 019 Solar Panel Puzzle
Переглядів 4,8 тис.19 годин тому
How does one attach panels to the roof of a trailer? Well, that's the question I aim to find out in this video. Yes, I had attached these to the top of my live-aboard boat once before, but this is a new challenge. And I want to share the thought process with you. Follow me on Facebook - lovekayak.fishing
Workshop 018 Drunk Measurements
Переглядів 6 тис.14 днів тому
I am not advocating drinking in any way. It's bad, m'kay? All I'm saying is, whenever I have a few brews and turn off the camera, things seem to flow very nicely. Perhaps it was just the fact that on my second attempt I had gained the experience needed to make better cuts. Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, there is some mysterious powers within the ingredients of my malt beverages that bring clarity. I'm n...
Workshop 017 Coffee Can't Fix Stupid

From a very early age I've always had a problem with perfection. Problem is, I often dream up and try to achieve that unicorn and as a consequence, I wind up constantly disappointed. Add to that my propensity to overthink things and you get what you see in this episode. While I am pondering some elaborate idea that might be all well and good, I overlook some simple measurement that I should've ...
2024 Hurricane Season Preparation
Переглядів 4,4 тис.21 день тому
If the lights go out, can you charge your phone? Storm season is here and it's predicted to be an active one. For a quarter century I have lived in Florida which gets hit by 40% of all named storms. I've dealt with the after effects of these wind events from a house, a boat and a trailer. After I moved out of the house I learned to appreciate every drop of water and every watt of electricity. I...
Workshop 016 Shelf Struggles
Переглядів 6 тис.21 день тому
Form without function is a waste of time. In this episode, my long awaited shelves seem to fight their birth, perhaps because I really wanted a particular form to take shape and part of that design didn't serve much practical purpose and the rest seemed nigh impossible to make look good. I am a patient guy though and can wait until the solution presents itself. And sometimes that unfortunately ...
Workshop 015 A Fair Curve
Переглядів 4,7 тис.Місяць тому
Finally! From paper to reality. It was good to see the curves of the roof truss gussets come to life. Their grain was tight and resinous and soaked with whatever horrible chemical they use to treat lumber under pressure. This was definitely not my favorite part of the workshop build so far. But it will certainly be the defining characteristic of the entire project. Follow me on: Facebook - face...

I finally got to hang one of the brackets I had envisioned and drew on paper so many days earlier. Turned out exactly to the scale I had drawn. And looks like they'll be an ideal use of space. Gotta love when a plan comes together! You can find Marty on Facebook here - lovekayak.fishing
Deflating the iATAK
Переглядів 4,6 тис.Місяць тому
If storage or portage is a problem for anyone who wants to fish and own their own kayak, this could be the trick. The Wilderness iATAK 110 is very impressive for an inflatable. I have shown it on the water before, but that's not the only place this vessel shines. I figured I'd show the behind the scenes part that often goes unshared. Deflating and folding up this portable fishing machine deserv...
Workshop 013 Starting the Workbench
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
The heart of any good shop lies upon and within the tabletop or bench. I have mentioned before how a goal of mine is to use this shop's main, vertical space as a place for active jobs only. That perhaps comes from filming so often in the past years. I have trained myself not to use the sd card in the camera as storage. It took a long time to build that skill of data management. Nowadays, I am u...
Workshop 012 Ideas Take Shape
Переглядів 5 тис.Місяць тому
Once in a great while, a project gets a hold of my interest so much, that I find that I roll out of bed with extra enthusiasm. The days end too quickly. I want to continue long after the sun quits on me. Meals are often forgotten. Even paddling a kayak didn't compare in interest to this new obsession. Not even a tweaked back could prevent me from pushing forward. My mobile workshop has turned i...
Workshop 011 The Hip Bones Connected to the Thigh Bone
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
When you're starting from scratch, it's a good idea to think things through. Before you ever drive that first nail, twist a screw, cut a board, etc. you must have a plan or else you are likely to regret it later. It's ok to amend your vision as you go, but dang if it's not just plain silly to set off for the store if you don't have directions or already know the way. Am I right? I can think of ...
Workshop 010 Roof Truss Waffle
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
Some projects I work on feel like skiing down a mountainside. You have to adjust to the curves and dips as they come to you. Yet, I still get on the lift thinking that I can somehow imagine all the twists and turns before I even see them. Perhaps that is the grand idea. Envision your goal. And bend to the currents that fight too hard. As a boater and a kayaker, I have found myself in a pickle o...
Workshop 009 Dealing with Dealies
Переглядів 7 тис.Місяць тому
As this project matures, there are more and more things to deal with. And they're all connected. I can't do this without that. But that can't be done until you finish this. Etc. Best bet I think is to just let my eyes wander a bit until I focus on something and tackle that for a little bit. Until something else catches my eye, and SQUIRREL! Workshop 008 What Goes Where
Переглядів 6 тис.Місяць тому
A place for everything. And everything in it's place. That makes it so you can find stuff when you need it. As is, the new shop is a disaster. That is as expected I guess since the new space is still getting put together. But this chaos will not do for very long before my eyes start to twitch. So, I put up some shelves and hung some stuff up. I did this knowing that eventually it would all have...

The Best inflatable Fishing Kayak EVER?
id love to have a shop or house on the water like that
Excellent build, production and fun factor! Thanks for the effort.
Awesome video. Looks like a great fishing kayak. I would be absolutely amazed if you post a video of you folding it back up and putting it back in the carry bag. 😂
Include the paddle FFS
Man that is cool. Real nice build!
Amazing if I only had 1/4 if the ability ❤
Orange thing in the sky 😂
Do you have a vid on the transom mods?
Jesus is Lord. Trying to help the algorithm and speak the truth.
You gotta pull load off and charge off a series pack like that diagonally positive off the first battery and negative off the last, otherwise your batteries will discharge unequally and also will not charge equally. You should also make sure all the batteries are fully charged before trying to charge the entire pack through one input.
BANANAS!!!! Are you guys crazy 😂😂
How strong would you say the material is? Im afraid of accidental punctures from Lures.
Besides the weight, the reason one 15hp is faster than three is the propellor geometry. I bet you have a ton more TQ but not much more speed.
Great video Marty. Have you talked to Mike Steen since you guys went your separate ways?
Please !!! Wear a mast when working with treated wood.
Hate to tell this guy, but that ain't a Bass Boat! Bass Boats don't come in plastic!
I doubt you want your trailer in the sun. It would get way too hot. Maybe mount your solar panels on another trailer with full exposure.
why not run the cables from the solar panels, down the side of the trailer, and up through the floor. Easier to waterproof floor rather than the roof where rain threatens to leak.
"the inside of Bonnie and Clyde's car". Probably your best line ever!
Bondo for the holes on the outside. It's much easier than fiberglass work. I miss my Friend David and mine fishing adventures at your kayak place.
Hey Marty, are you allowed to do some tree trimming above the shop?
If you birdbrains are referring to the 100th of a split second he popped up a pic of a tater-tot when talking about the sun shining, GET OVER IT! That had nothing to do with politics! You are the ones who dreamed that up. The dude is simply orange! Who else is orange, George Hamilton? Who would have gotten that reference?
Hey, Marty, why don't you come down and just go right under the edge into that aluminum? And then down to the inside that top aluminum, you can always caulk it on the outside around the wires. And you won't have to put a hole through the roof just a suggestion
Is the Great Loop trip over?
Hi Marty. Why not run some conduit down the outside of the workshop and come up underneath where you already have the ingress? That way you can give the cable a drip bend and not have to worry about waterproofing?
Looking good Marty! Stay safe & well! 👍👍
Nice!
Great video Marty; Solar is a good way to go if you can afford the panels/controllers and batteries and a converter to operate AC devices. We are forecast for a really busy hurricane season this year, off grid may be a blessing. 73 GOD bless Earnest k5ewm.
I think the solar will be 50% in the shade. Good luck on your politics view.
Great video as always Marty!!! You going to be at icast this year? Hope to see you there!!!
You need to get yourself a battery shunt. You can’t monitor the batteries correctly without one. They aren’t that expensive.
SWEET
I love what you do ... but don't go political... that's not you and your channel... great progress, really Terrific....lol i couldn't help myself... bro, you rock
awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marty!!!
🖐😎👍
I love your videos over the years. You might want to keep the snipits of politics out of it, you could easily lose subscribers the way times are today. Sad thing!
Well he breathes air in this country he can express himself as he wishes.
Don't be so soft, a majority of your favorite entertainment sources don't agree with you politically and that's ok. Not a big deal
If they're bothered by that enough to leave then good riddance.
Doing a good job Marty, Keep it up !
Thank you Marty, well done..
Marty that is going to be nice when it is done. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Everything has a place. Wish my kids could understand this.
Next you need a chainsaw or agent orange to get some sun on them
Marty do you want to sell the track?🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Looking good Marty !!!
Loving the project so far! What a build! You have some of the coolest ideas brought to execution I’ve seen on the platform. What color are you thinking of painting it?
Fantastic job , looks fun. You are Officially in the Triple club , congrats
Love your videos! Keep them coming!
Marty! You are such a calm man! Also very talented !
What a shame you did all that work and now none of the water will drain out of that boat the first time you use it it will weigh 5,000 lb. What a waste of work
Hey Marty! Hope all is well! I get a big smile every time I see one of your shirts. Hope they are holding up well! 🍻
I'm a heavy metal drummer and that percussionist still kicks ass.
